The Proving Ground is a competitive 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 compatible level for Halo Infinite, built in their Forge editor. The map draws inspiration heavily from Bungie's level design, using different heights and cover options to promote different playstyles and engagement ranges. The map is made for an elimination game mode, and limits the players on their choice on weapon depending on the location they go to, allowing me to balance player weaponry between teams.

There are four areas, each providing a different engagement range and options for combat. The indoor area has far more close-quarter combat and was designed to provide multiple sightlines to any position to discourage degenerative play. The middle lane contains cover and heavy amounts of explosive hazards, which provides players with both medium-range engagements but also a more tactical and position-reliant flow. The bridge and its underpass serve two different engagement ranges, but with the same objective, to procure the sniper rifle that sits in the middle of the bridge. Both of these areas are built for high-intensity gunplay, which is why the areas are more linear than the others, as well as serving as a place of both power fantasy (the sniper rifle) and vulnerability (the lack of cover and visual dominance when viewed from another area).
